On January 3, 8, 15, and 22, SSDI funds will be sent out. The 2025 COLA raise will be added to all of these Social Security Disability Insurance payments. For those who don’t know, the cost-of-living adjustment means that disability payments will go up by 2.5%.
Remember that you must have filed and gotten approval from the SSA before you can get Disability Insurance payments. If you are eligible, you can keep getting them as long as you are eligible.
Pick up $1,580 in SSDI checks – Who can get them?
If you start getting disability benefits before May 1997, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will send you an average amount of $1,580 on January 3. In December 2024, they are worth about $1,542.
You can get these regular payments in other ways as well, though. As it turns out, people who get Supplemental Security Income can also get an SSDI check on January 3 if they also get Social Security.
Keep in mind that people who don’t qualify for SSDI on January 3 will need to meet the birth date standard in order to get one of the other checks.
Payments from SSDI after January 3
If your birthday is between January 1 and January 10, no matter what month you were born, you will get a Social Security Disability Insurance payment on January 11. On January 18, the third Wednesday paycheck will be sent out. But only people born between 11 and 20 will get it.
Lastly, some people who get SSDI will get their monthly payment on January 25. People born between July 21 and December 31 will get paid on this date, no matter what month it is. Some injury payments will be bigger than usual.
This is possible if the worker made a lot of money and paid SSA taxes for more than 35 years. In fact, in 2025, the biggest SSDI payment could be as much as $4,018.
